American Hackberry (Celtis occidentalis), also known as nettletree and beaverwood. The wood is light yellow; heavy, soft, coarse-grained. Used for fencing and furniture. The light-colored wood can be given a light- to medium-brown finish that in other woods must be achieved by bleaching.
